Gothic

Out of the three choices between atmosphere, action, and supernatural stuff, I think that agtmoshpere makes the story most spooky. I think this because atmosphere has different things under its catogory like the weather or the house thats occupied. The atmosphere just gives the "feel" of the whole story. For instance, In Frankenstein, The boat is in some wet and nasty weather so it sets the creepy feel to it. Also, The feel of how Mary Shelley talks about the dark night at 1 oclock in the morning when Frankenstein makes the monster is dark and scary or when he sees the monster at the murder spot TWO YEARS after! that is kind of creepy. All of there different things like weather, location, and setting is catogories of the atmosphere and what makes me believe the story is so effective in gettin the gothic horror theme across.

Ghost Story

If i had to write a ghost story, I would begin with a major event where the ghost is "introduced" right away. I would choose that because from the different movies I have watched or books I have read, those are my favorite. I hate when stories have a really boring start and it takes forever for the movie to start and to get good. BUT, I do like the way Mary Shelley opened her story with the stranger, now Victor, starts telling the spooky story because i invisioned them on the sea in the middle of nowhere and it is dark and dreary. I think that that is very different from other boring ghost books i have read.
