Blog 3: The most interesting thing during the summer.

I had a really good summer this year, but the best thing that happened was when I went to California in July. I was really nervous at first because I had not seen my family in awhile. But after I got there, I started to have a lot of fun. We stayed there for two weeks. the first week we pretty much just visited with my family and had a party. However, the second week we went to Disneyland, Universal studios and went on an Ariel tram that takes you up a mountain. It seriously went from 112 to 70 degrees.

A day or two after we went on the Ariel tram, we drove out to Disneyland and stayed in a hotel. Even though it sounds like something a kid would do, I still had a lot of fun there. The next day we went to Universal studios. At Universal I saw the minions from despicable me, they were too cute! I also went on this tour of the actual studios and got to see the cars from The Fast and the Furious & The Flinstones, and the sets of Jurassic park, and Dr. Seuss, The Grinch Stole Christmas. I had a really good time and I'm glad I got to spend it with my family.

my last name is Fortney

my mom named me off a TV show

is that not corny?

 

Its origin is Hebrew

Which mean "who is like god"

Although I do not see it that way

I am honestly quite flawed

 

Kayla is a nickname

but I prefer not

My dad calls me Marie

and I like it a lot

 

My middle name is Marie

it is marvelous to me

it means rebellion or woman of the sea

 

Another name I get called,

but not so often is Fortney

that is my last name

as you can see

in Latin it means "strong one"

and I totally can agree

 

Yet somehow I think

as I get older

my name will not grow with me

Mikayla is a young name

but maybe it was meant to be

 

my mom wanted to spell it with a C-H

but my dad said no way

So they settled on I-K

One rule

The number one rule I have for myself is do not change for anyone. I abide by this rule because I believe one is not happy when they are not themselves. It is better to be hated than loved for something I am not. No one should have to sacrifice who they are just because someone else has a problem with it. I once read a quote that said "Take me as I am or watch me as I go." This quote sticks with me because if someone does not like who I am, then I do not need them to be a part of my life. I should not change for anyone who didn't change for me. If they were not there for me in the beginning, They will not be here for me now. In the end it is better to be myself more than anyone else because I have people who love and accepts me as I am and I do not need people who do not.
